1980 Corvette Stingray

1980 Corvette Stingray

They only made this particular model for three years, from 1980-1982. I always liked these models best, they are known as the shark cars. In 1981 they started using the "brain" and in 1982 they started using the crossfire injection so I did not want the brain or the crossfire injection so opted for the 1980.

I have owned the car for five years and during that time I have had a tremendous amount of work done to the rocket. When I got it, it had recently had the apolstery done then I put new glass in on all four sides, had the headlights reworked including custom head lights, added custom tail lights and most notable the custom Turbo II High-Rise hood which features the two naca ducts in the front and the gills on the top.

The engine was built by Mike Rubin from Space Coast Motor Sports. Mike Ruben races Nascar dirt track and builds boat motors for a living. Not bass boats, I am talking cigar boats with two blown 632 cubic inch motors. When I threw the new engine in I also swapped out the tranny for a TH700R-4 that was rebuilt with a 2500 RPM Stall. And I also had to put on a new hood to acomidate the high-rise intake manifold.

I will be completely honest, the car still need some work. The project is mostly finished, about 85% complete in my opinion. all the major work is done but now needs someone who can give some TLC and put on that finishing touch.

I was once in a position to do so but now I am a full time student and out of work. I need to sell the rocket and get me an econo-box until I am done with school. I really wish I could keep the vett because it is such a bad-ass ride but sometimes sacrifices have to be made to get ahead. Who knows, maybe I could buy it back in about 4 years...

I know you can buy a Decent looking Stingray for about 12,000 like I did but by the time you replace all of the worn out parts you will have as much into your ride as I have in mine. Do yourself a favor and save some time and money by getting one with all new parts.

Right after I got mine the breaks went bad and everything had to be replaced including the suspension which was wearing out my tires quickly, the springs were gone. Not long after that the rear end went out and the half shafts were badly worn as well and had to be replaced. And pray your engine and tranny will hold up too. Did I mention it cost over a grand just to get my headlight to work.

Oh Yeah, The Engine should push somewhere in the neighborhood of 500HP. My program specs it out at 475HP and about 525FP but my mechanics program specs it out about 25 points higher. You can drag race it if you take out the baffles in the side pipes and put on a pair of slicks. You do not have to add any boosters or additives to the fuel but you do have to run high octane fuel. The car is pushing a massive amount of power but it is also 100% streetable, I use to drive to work every day and now use it to drive to school.

You will easily outspend what I am asking...buying mine is like paying half price or paying the same price and getting twice the ride...
