ANSWER-24

Can you explain more about the Nazarite Priesthood?

Sure! But let me start by explaining a little bit about the Kohanim (Aaronic Priesthood) and how it was originated. After receiving the ten commandments Mosheh (Moses) was told to establish the priesthood with his brother Aharon (Aaron) and his sons. Let us now read a passage from the Torah.

And bring you near unto you Aharon your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Yisra'el, that they may minister unto Me in the cohen's office, even Aharon, Nadav and Avihu, El'azar and Itmar, Aharon's sons. (HRV Exodus 28:1)

"And you, bring near Aharon your brother and his sons with him, from among the children of Yisra'el, for serving as priest to Me: Aharon, Nadab and Abihu, El'azar and Ithamar, the sons of Aharon. (ISR Shemoth 28:1)

Kohanim are not priests by choice, they simply do what they have to do. Kohanim are considered to be Tohor which means acceptable or clean. Nazarites on the other hand choose to be priests, they do not have to be Nazarites. Nazarites are not only considered acceptable or clean as the Kohanim, they are Kodesh (set-apart).

The vow of the Nazarite is a vow of separation, separation unto YaHuWaH, separation from the world and its ways. The word Nazarite in Hebrew is Naziyr and literally means to be set-apart not unlike the Hebrew word Kodesh. The Hebrew word Kodesh is usually incorrectly translated as holy but literally it means to be set-apart. The very idea of being a Nazarite is to live a set-apart life. Nazarites like Prophets are obviously highly revered by YaHuWaH. Let us now read a passage from Scripture.

And I raised up your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O you children of Yisra'el? says YHWH. (HRV Amos 2:11)

"And I raised up some of your sons as prophets, and some of your young men as Nazirites. Not so? O you children of Yisra'el?" declares YaHuWaH. (ISR Amos 2:11)

I find it very interesting that they are listed with the Prophets. I believe that the Prophets might have also been Nazarites themselves or that Prophets and Nazarites may have worked in conjunction. This would be consistent with the Scripture when Y'shua sent the Apostles out two by two. I believe that in these end times that the prophets of YaHuWaH will either be Nazarites or may be accompanied by Nazarites.
